I have always had a tendency of approaching writing by means that most would consider unnecessarily difficult. I guess this only would make sense in light of me never doing anything the easy way. Trust me ... this isn't function though design or plan. I just can't seem to decide what guidelines to follow. This is most evident in my writing process.
There are many sources available for the "correct" process of creation. Various books, websites, video forums, direct conversation with established creators and even classroom study are among the most well known.
For writing, I have been told to create an outline. There are key points a writer should focus on if they wish to produce a strong tale. You want Characters that require depth and realism instead of simple place holders that wait to be saved or killed. These Characters also need a main Plot that gives them a reason to exist at all. Your Plot must have a World in which to dwell ... of course that World must be real for your Characters. Now you add in sub-plots and goals and accomplishments and failures and emotion and props and .... well, a whole lot of other elements that you may or may not need for your current project.
If you are anything like me, you are wondering where to begin. Honestly, I don't know what to tell you. The first thing I learned about writing is that nobody can agree as to "how" one is to write. Yes, there are plenty of suggestions... but there is no single perfect guideline that will work for everyone. I am not going to try selling you on any technique; instead, I would love to hear what works for you.
